What looks like an abstract painting, is the natural color of a tree. This natural color eucalyptus tree is commonly known as the Rainbow Eucalyptus. Rainbow Eucalyptus is the only species that grows naturally in New Britain, New Guinea and Mindanao. It is now cultivated widely around the world, mainly for pulpwood.
The rainbow eucalyptus got it's name from the unique multicolored properties of wood, which changes the thickness of wood with different shades.
Young bark is bright green in color. Then, over time it gets blue, purple, orange and maroon colors. Young and old bark alternatively, form a bizarre rainbow pattern, which changes all the time.
