Amazing facts-Dr. Life

Dr. Jeffrey Life is a 73-year-old, who is heavily dependent upon hormonal modifications to look like a 30 year old.

Dr. Life decided to change his life at the age of 60, when he started to take fitness pretty seriously. Until then, he was overweight, a borderline diabetic and stressed-out. It was when he came across a 12-week fitness challenge on Muscle Media Magazine that he decided to make a few changes in his life. So he sent in his before picture as required by the challenge and started to work out big-time. After the 3 months were up, he had lost over 25 pounds and considerably cut-back on body fat. This, however, was not long-lived and at age 64, his body could no longer hold muscle mass and began to shrink. The culprit – a condition known as andropause – involving a steady decline of testosterone levels.

amazing-facts-dr-life3And so, to get back to a young and pumped body, Dr. Life has for the past 9 years been taking regular doses of testosterone and human growth hormone. This, of course, along with a strict regimen of exercise (six days a week including hard cardio, heavy weight lifting, martial arts, Pilates, and more) and diet. And the result is plain for all to see.

amazing-facts-dr-life1Testosterone replacement therapies do not come without their own risks, however. It is known to cause an enlarged prostate, and human growth hormone could increase risk of diabetes and cancer. Most doctors believe that the fall in testosterone levels is a normal part of the aging process and must not be tampered with. Top doctors even say that these programs are completely illogical and prey upon people’s desires to wind back the clock.

Amazing facts-Waitomo Glowworm Cave

Waitomo Glowworm Cave (New Zealand): a glowworms’ paradise

The Waitomo Glowworm Cave is a cave on the North Island of New Zealand, known for its population of glowworms, Arachnocampa luminosa. These glowworms spin a nest out of silk on the ceiling of the cave and then hang down. Then, the larva glows to attract prey into its threads, so that the roof of a cave is covered with larva can look remarkably like the heavens at night. A hungry larva glows brighter than one which has just eaten.

amazing-facts-waitomo-cavesA silicon strand is lowered from the ceiling, alongside hundreds of others. Beautiful though these threads are, they have a sinister purpose. To trap its prey it [the cave glow worm] goes fishing with a line of silk. That ghostly blue light is the result of a chemical reaction taking place inside a special capsule in its tail. Insects seem irresistibly drawn towards the source and then get trapped by the sticky lines. Once stuck, there is no escape. Now it’s just a matter of reeling in the line and slowly consuming the catch – alive. By ensnaring the insects that hatch in this cave, these glow worms have solved the biggest challenge that permanent cave dwellers face finding a regular and reliable source of food.

Animal world-Ferret's visit to Hotel

Staff at a Grade I listed Georgian town house hotel in the centre of York welcomed an unusual guest in from the pouring rain - a drenched ferret. The ferret scuttled into the Judges' Lodgings Hotel when the door opened one wet night, reports the Yorkshire Evening Press.

Duty manager Catherine Bell said, 'We' d opened the door to let someone come in, and the ferret scuttled in with them.' He was soaking wet, so I think he' d been outside for at least a couple of hours.'

Assistant manager Julie Smith continued, 'The night porter caught him and put him in the wine cellar, in a crisp box.' We did some research on the internet, and found that ferrets like kitten food. So, We've gone out to buy some. He has bitten some people, but so far he's left me alone.'
