Animal world-Swimming with Tigers

Tigers are known as the best swimmers of all the big cats with modified webbing between their toes to make their feet more like flippers. But The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species, or Tigers, near Miami, claims to have overcome the problem by encouraging both tigers and humans to swim together in a specially adapted pool.

animal-worldTraditionally, trainers have struggled to build an attachment with the largest of the big cats. Despite the apparent danger, the trainers are never at risk. They've found that in the water people and tigers are on a more equal footing.

animal-worldThe hand-reared tigers are introduced to the water a few months after birth and the trainers then give one-on-one tuition to each of the animals while they are in the water.

Bizarre events-Human cloning

Australian government issued the world's first license for human embryo cloning. The cloning process will be performed by local in vitro fertilization company Sydney IVF. At the present moment, though, the license allows only development of early-stage embryos, known as therapeutic cloning, since embryo implantation into the womb is restricted by law. During the cloning process the scientists are going to use somatic cell nuclear transfer technique, in which nucleus of a donor somatic cell is removed, and then replaced with a nucleus containing required DNA information. It is to be recalled that the same technique was used when cloning Dolly in 1996.

NAC conductor Pinchas Zukerman, counted among the world's leading violinists, recently had the honour of playing the world's most expensive musical instrument.
The violin is a 1741 instrument made by Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu, for which Russian lawyer and businessman Maxim Viktorov paid a reported $3.9 million U.S. in a private sale brokered by Sotheby's last month. Fascinating events-Subway art

At Toronto's Bayview subway station, shadows of common objects such as apples and ladders silk screened to the linoleum and walls framed by patches of colored tile gives the place a surreal look. Panya Clark Espinal is the artist who designed the art in the Bayview Station.

fascinating-eventsIn this installation created for the Toronto Transit Commission, twenty-four hand-drawn images have been 'projected' onto the architecture of the station so that when seen from the original location of projection, the images are crystalized and realistic, but when seen from other locations they appear to be abstractions.

fascinating-eventsThese images act as beacons, drawing the viewers along various paths of movement. Depicting everyday objects and simple geometric shapes, the images are rendered in an uncommonly large scale and in unusual orientations, allowing one to interact playfully with them as one moves through the space.
